Update

Fished from shore today starting at about 12 until dark. The boats outnumbered the shore fishermen this time. The park side is fine to fish from. The action has slowed down.

Good news. Will definately be there by 8AM tomorrow then. I dont feel like driving to Black Lake, but tempted to go, just to stop and check out Cabelas.

FishingFool,
I'll likely be out there somewhere. I'll be out there in a BRIGHT green coat or a black and gray coat if it's rainy...I'll likely head out to the point, and if you needa spot, I can share one with ya.
Good luck

Hey Sam. I showed up at a little after 7:30AM.

Wow there's lot of early birds there. But the majority of them... Well english is their 2nd language and uhhh, quite a few of them need to practice their casting....

Anyways I went to the point but there was a group of 4 or 5 guys there already. The only place I could fish wasn the right side of the "beach" I guess.

I stayed til 10:15 until I had to leave. I was freezing my ass off, and not a single bite to show for it. I know the group to the left of me, caught at least 4 fish while I was there. The group at the point, caught at least 3. There was a boat with 3 guys in front of my view, that caught at least 4.

I used every color powereggs I had, but nothing would bite for me.

This is the first time I've been so cold, I couldnt stand it. I usually can wait out for at least 1 fish, even if that means 4-5hrs. :-#

But my hands were numb. And my toes were starting to hurt being so cold. Looks like I need to invest in some wool socks, and gloves.

Also, it took me over an hr to get to Beaver Lake. Due to the traffic in the morning. Only took about 45-50 mins to get back. I dont think I"ll be here over there any time soon.

iPodrodder: We're thinking of going out this Friday and Saturday to fish Beaver. Will you be around? The first time I went I got three about 3-4 pounds by myself, anchored still from a boat, with powerbait...have tactics changed now that the fish are moving around and keying in on natural food sources? I surmise, that may be happening. Let me know if you'll be at Beaver Friday. Later!

Fishing is really SLOW. However, when we were there a little while ago, some guy paddled all the way down to the end of the lake, used live nightcrawlers, got his limit, and headed back in...all 3-4 pounds each. Far end of the lake, by the woods. He'll be there again. We couldn't get a nibble on worms, power eggs, bait, or anything else inbetween. So yeah, SLOW is the word out there.

You have to find a place with lower pressure. The other end of the lake, hidden corners, small holes in the middle of shallows, they're all good spots. The fishing hasn't slowed down for me when I'm in a boat and able to find those places.
