RE:Winter Steel
Anyone have any idea what the Bogey looks like right now. I have been planning a trip out there for the last three months and now it looks like I may have to cancel due to weather.

RE:Winter Steel
the problem is it if fed by a rain forest. Just keep and eye on the gauge, it is fishable even when high.

Are there still plenty of good bank areas to fish? Will hip waders be enough when the water is like this?scott080379 wrote:the problem is it if fed by a rain forest. Just keep and eye on the gauge, it is fishable even when high.

RE:Winter Steel
yeah hip wadders will work but I would say you should get some bibs. it is a wet muddy walk to the couple of good fishing holes.
Not going to say it will be blown out cause the fish will still be there(if their in again). If we just keep a steady light rain for the next couple days we should be fine...but that is on this side of the mountains so keep an eye on the river gauge and weather for forks.

Here are some photos I took today of the Sky valley rivers
This is the highway 2 bridge over the sultan, it was pretty gnarly.
The Sultan river at sportsmens park.
This guy was the only one brave enough to fish at Reiter. I can't believe it, I wonder if he caught anything.
This is how high the water was on the highway 2 side

RE:Winter Steel
Damn surprised anyone was out fishing. But steelhead season is for diehards.....brave soul or stupid depending on how you look at it.
RE:Winter Steel
I would opt for stupid. One false step and its game over for sure. We all know the bottom structure at reiter is large boulders and cobble and is unpredictable to walk on even when you can SEE where you're going.... not to mention logs and chitt floating down the river from above...Just take the day off buddy!
Bogie is blown, as are most coast rivers right now. The waterdata map is all dark blue and black dots.

Just take the day off little buddy. Bogie is blown, as are most rivers right now. The waterdata map is all dark blue and black dots. Fishing it when it is "high" is one thing, fishing it when it is over the banks is another. lol

Hard to believe I was just there saturday and it looked nothing like that. What a difference a day (and a couple million gallons of fresh runoff) makes. Oh and that guy fishing at reiter... Not your smartest move by far bro!natetreat wrote:Here are some photos I took today of the Sky valley rivers

Is that the only type of chrome you can get? He He He
~Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.
~My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.
