A conditions report vs. a fishing report...The East portion is open water with several trailers at the "Pay At The Can" launch with Sprague Lake Resort OPEN, too. The WDFW access near the island is still locked up in thick, breaking ice. A persistent kayak fishermen was about to make a determined, if ill advised, attempt to slide his kayak across the ice to the few visible narrow, open water channels. I don't know why he not back track down the road to the other launch? The lake itself is down from past years; especially last year. Negro Creek (the incoming creek through the town of Sprague) is dry.

On the way home checked out Medical Lake...still froze up. Liberty Lake has open water, but the access is crowded.
