We had wanted to fish Beaver on the previous Friday when the weather front brought some rain and wind into the area. Family stuff intervened so we kept dry that day. Got to Beaver about 10AM on Monday. Absolutely clear and calm in the morning and we couldn't buy a bite. Worms, jigs, swimbaits, cranks, jerkbaits, etc. etc. Nothing happening. The weather got more interesting with the wind picking up and a few sprinkles hitting the water in the afternoon but we still didn't get a bite.

Every fall I get my hopes up with the talk of the "Fall bite--it's really going to get exciting now!" And every year it's about the same, a nice fish every once in awhile, but for the most part we do "squat." Part of it's my fault, of course. It is just about physically impossible for me to let a Senko sit on the bottom for 1 or 2 minutes--just not wired that way, I guess. Bad part is that I KNOW it will work sometimes!

We'll see what next week brings.

Go east young man. I gave up on the west side and will repeat next year. As you say some here and there, but nothing consistent.

Enjoyed your report Dutch. That lake has some lunkers. On my first trip there I caught a 21 inch, 5 pound, 11 ounce lunker on a floating Rapala 11G. Pic and overview on info page on this site.

Slowing down is an acquired skill. Leave the reaction baits at home and force yourself to flip, pitch, drop-shot and Carolina-rig. You'll be glad you did and just think of the gas you'll save lol

Thanks, B8, yeah I should. That will be my goal for next year—that and learning to catch LMB on a jig :-/
