CF and I headed to Sprague Lake for the first time this fall. We were happy to see the dock still in at the SW launch. We had lines in the water by 7:30 on the East end. My perch Kekeda fly had a hit within 10 minutes which had us excited. We tried various flies, rippin minnows and flickershads over the next 2 hours without a bump.
We headed to the West end and it didn’t take long before the first pole doubled over and a nice rainbow went aerial far behind the boat. I had a nice fight with him before he unzipped himself near the boat. We had a couple more hits until we finally boated a nice fat 17” fish on a perch Kekeda fly. Over the next 3 hours we boated and released 5 more fish and lost a couple more. Most of the action came from size 4 and 5 flickershads with purple and pink colors. We fished 10-15 FOW around 2.4 mph. Water temp was 48-52*. The fish were all thick and between 15-18”.
It was another good day on the water!
