Took the kiddo to deception pass to play at the beach yesterday without planning on doing much or any fishing to be honest, but i tossed a rod in the truck and some hooks, split shot & power eggs in my pocket just in case she wanted to try. after a couple hours on the sand, we took the kiddo over to the lake so she could play in the water a little bit easier and saw a ton of trout in the shallows. I knew they were fresh stockers and easy to catch so i asked the kiddo if she wanted to catch a fishy or 2. She got excited so i ran to the truck and grabbed the rod and sparse tackle i brought with. I made a couple casts with a kastmaster that was already on my rod but she had trouble keeping the fish on so i switched it out. I tied on a single hook to the mainline and put a single split shot about a foot off the hook, trying to be quick as possible. baited up with 2 power eggs and tossed it out. the fish were gut hooking themselves so it made it a lot easier for here 4 year old coordination to keep them on. probly took 15min to get hers and my limit. it wasn't real fishing but she had fun and it's always nice getting a few on my first time casting into a lake for the season.
