I'm not going to count the 10 incher I boated or the 12 incher I lost.

This lake is about one good southerly wind from no longer having a boat launch! The floating land masses are on the move big time. One huge mat now covers the majority of the lake along the road side area and another is blocking about 90% of the launch.

Water temps were a cooler than hoped 52-53 degrees and the water color is still a bit off. I pitched a few different baits and threw swim jugs, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I worked the floating mats with edges from 1 to 8 feet deep and the outside edges of the pads. The two dinks came from pitching a shallow edged mat with a black and blue Rage Craw.

Inexperiencedfisherman was launching as I was leaving so I imagine he went out and tore them up :)

Nice bumping into you!

I've got the same mat pictures from earlier this Spring when I raced the wind back to the launch and just got out before it closed off. Those things sure move around!

I remember that report! The lake is pretty unique in this fact as it's always changing. One mat already took out the majority of the parking area and I just wonder how long until a big one like this gets wedged in there and then stuck for good once the water level drops? Then it's no more launch OR parking!

Very odd in that there are islands of floating vegetation being shoved to and fro by the wind! I would imagine this would be like fishing in a ever changing maze?

Does this lake have good sized bass? I would imagine you would not waste your time launching if answer was no. My curiosity begs me to ask.

It typically has a good mix of smalls, 2-3 pound class and some toads mixed in. In can be very finicky at times and the bass can access waaay back under the mats. Also, the weed growth in the summer is fairly substantial.
