Met BentRod at Bob Heirman 6:30am this morning. Found the hole we want to fish and quickly went to work. Saw some jumpers but the bite was slow. I started with eggs under bobber. Few light hits with no hookups. Looked over to BentRod and saw him fighting a fish. Then he slipped and sat into the river while walking backwards. While I was paying attention to BentRod, I felt couple of tugs from my line. I quickly check the bobber and it was dancing. Set the hook and it was fish on. A nice looking buck coho. The hook was deep in the throat. I guess I let it chew on it too long. Game warden came around and taught this rookie an expensive lesson. I did not record my catch right away so that buck became the most expensive salmon I ever had. Now I know I need to record each catch right away.

Even though it's not how I want the day to turn out. I still feel fortunate to be able to fish and learn from BentRod.

hope we can do it again sometime....but without the ticket....and maybe more fish. Lol. Still a good time regardless. Always nice to fish with new people. :)

Sorry about the ticket...how long did you wait? I met someone who went through that themselves when I start on my salmon quest this year, and they gave me a heads up while I was fishing at Lincoln park in Seattle. It is difficult to hear your situation when I've seen poachers on the Duwamish in the past, and no one checks there.

BendRod: thanks for the opportunity! Looking forward to the next outing.
Sheltered: Maybe about an hour. The thing is I didn't even know I need to record it right after the catch. I only thought about it when I saw BendRod's pen and borrowed it from him. I then record the catch right in front of the game warden. He must been thinking what the heck is this guy doing? Ignorance is no excuse. Going forward, pen will be part of my fishing gear.

I like your answer mr Hooksetjou! Very self explanatory! May be you should read the Fishing Regulations more carefully before you are heading for the river fishing! Everybody is trying to be an inspector of this river, talking about snaggers, illegally taking fish, etc, etc, etc.
"I didn't know I need to record it right after the catch" ! What are you doing on that river? Or any river at all?
I am fishing that river for about 7 + years and there is a problem! I have seen only one guy wh've recorded the fish right away and only because I was doing that after every single pink I've got. Other than that, I do not know, but to me looks like people do not know about presence of CRC!

Tough lesson, but all the times I have been down there, (12-15) I have never seen anyone record right away, I always wondered why, but then again, I could have said something, but I just figured it's the fishermen's responsibility to monitor his/her data. On the boat, we mark it off right away, use small clipboard with everyone's license attached, that way no fidgeting or going thru pockets looking for it. Again, glad you hooked up,...

That is my concern N E 1 FISSION! Before we start to go bla-bla-bla about poachers, snaggers, all other bad guys , we have to go by the book perfectly, and than we can judge/ say about some not right thing to others. Problem is : will those guys to listen us whithout problem for us? Why I have to put in my CRC down 4 pinks, when everybody around me is not doing that? That is just on Snohomish/ Skykomish system!
Nonsense?!

N E 1 FISSION, totally agree that it is the fishermen's responsibility to monitor their own data. Definitely a hard lesson I'll not forget. Like I said, ignorance is no excuse. Hope my post will help others to be more aware of the rules.
