i arrived at the river around 11am, overcast rainy, river was high and brown with only 1 1/2' visibility. lots of snaggers and flossers out today. with the high flows and water level, the larger schools were forced to go closer to shore, hundreds within casting distance. the bite was slow, i think due to lack of visibility. i caught 2 bright hens, 1 that self released at shore :/ and 3 gnarley old bucks, hump and all.
i dont fish here often and wont once the river drops, so for today ill list my exact location with gps hotspot, hopefully you guys all show up and crowd out the snaggers.. the very lowest part of thomas eddy, downstrean of the rocks. and upstream of the island, right in there. from bob heriman park take the trail to the T, take a left. follow the past 2 old log blow downs( not including the new blowdowns) once you pass the multiple logs blow down. youll see a trail to the right, this trail will go over an area of alder sapling new blowdown, then take a right down a short trail to the river, there will be crowds there. enjoy the combat fishing.
