Met a friend at the boat launch and headed out into the lower river. We both limited in less than an hour with plenty of fish released. What a blast!

You sound like seasoned professionals!
What launch?

I might be heading to the river this afternoon - but for whatever reason my luck on the river is non existent. I can be using the same exact gear someone else is using, casting and working the rod the exact same way everybody else is and still get skunked....

Bigfish- we launched at Cady. I am far from a season pro, just had a great day!

Gonefishing - I had the same issue, try early morning. There are plenty of fish in the river.

This year the pinks seem to be caught at first light? So get out the there in the mornings. Your luck will start changing!

Gonefishing, if you have really heavy line your lure (if you cast/retreive) wont' get too deep, and getting way down to the fish is the key, often. If you never snag bottom, then that also might be a clue that you're maybe fishing too shallow.
Consider this river seminar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJnjT3cpdU0
I prefer jigs to spoons, but still....

Yes, some years it seems pinks won't bite nearly as well after 11 am or so.
In the Snohomish, I've heard that the FLOOD tide, in mornings, is the key.
Also, I always fish rivers from a boat.....helps a ton, because I can run for 10 miles and spot the one best spot that has the most jumping fish.

I have caught tons of pinks in the afternoon. It seems like the key is the incoming tide, right about mid tide, any time of the day.

Scoutguy, I guess my SKAGIT/HARRISON River and salt-water experience is kicking in, as I guess I'm used to mostly fishing non-tidal waters on the Skagit and Harrison Rivers, or the salt-water mostly. As my knowledge on the Snoho increases, I'm finding that your tidal advice seems to be more true than I first believed. Good wording.

Scoutguy, what parts of the river does that mid flood-tide advice hold true? Monroe? Snohomish (city)? Everett? Or does it vary a bit, depending on how high up in the Snoho/Sky system one goes?
