Fished the Snoho today with Guitarfisher from the site. We launched at Ebey Waterfront Park in Marysville and were targeting sturgeon. We fished in the sloughs and after finding nothing in our first spot moved about 100 yards downstream and anchored up in appx 20 feet of water. The tide was really high today and most of the area we were in was fairly deep, over 20 feet. No sooner than throwing out my gear (maybe 30 seconds) my rod started to shake then got real heavy, I snatched it up and set the hook hard into a big fighting fish. It ran down stream about 20 yard, then turned a 180 and started flying upstream FAST, took quite a bit of line before it finally came unbuttoned parallell with the boat. I am blaming the barbless hooks, could have been a bad hookset? Who knows, all that matters is that I lost it. Fished a few more spots and for about 3 more hours with not another bump other than a crab. Wish we would have gotten a look at that bugger! Maybe next time. Weather was amazing, partly cloudy and not too cold. Duck hunters were out in full force, we didn't see many birds, but heard a ton of shooting. Pretty surprised to see 5 or 6 other boats out for sturgeon as well.
