It's getting late and I have no idea what i'm doing, so I am going to make this quick. I don't know the area well, so I drove under a bridge in Snohomish and made a right along the river. I drove a bit till I saw some cars parked and followed a small trail to the side of the river. I cast out some PowerBait Salmon Egg Clusters, with a 18" leader and some 1/4" inch hollow core. I fished for about 45 min and drove along the river some more to Everett.

I pulled in to a park and found a place to fish. This time I fished with a PowerBait Salmon Egg Cluster and a Sand Shrimp. I did this for about an hour and then I saw the biggest damned slug that I have ever seen in my life. He was about 3" long and he was actually using his teeth to eat a leaf. I said screw it and tossed him on my hook with the pink PowerBait Egg Clusters. Man that thing was a nasty beast of a slug! I fished with that for a while and then went back to sand shrimp for the rest of the night till about 9:00 PM.

Right around sunset I saw a few fish jump or roll and you could see and hear how big they were. I can't wait to catch one someday. I have never even hooked in to a salmon before.

Had I seen or heard anyone catching something I would have just tried what they were doing but I don't think that anyone was catching anything.

smoked1 - Don't get too frustrated.....To make it easy for you, I a new to salmon fishing as well. My first stint was the year before last for pinks and I caught a ton, but just had to learn how to do it. The easiest thing and the best luck I have had is just a simple spoon called a humpy special. It is just a pink spoon with a single hook. Toss that baby out and trust me, you won't be disappointed. It may take a while but it really does work and is the simplest rig. They are cheap so buy 10 or so of them as you may loose a few to snags. I caught 2 on Monday night with this, and 1 Sunday in that same area you are talking about on a squid like plastic jig. The most important thing is to remain positive and have fun.......There are a ton of fish about to come in in the next few weeks so you are bound to catch something. ................

I plan to go back and try again tonight so maybe I will have more luck. I picked up some of those humpy specials and a few pink buzz bombs. I don't usually fish with a lure because it interferes with my drinking and smoking. How do you guys get these big ass fish home after you catch them? Do you just stick them in a bag or something? I got my ass kicked by the mosquitoes last night too. Do you guys use repellent when you are on the shore?

Hey Bro! Thanks for the pointers. I don't think i'm gona be able to get out there tonight because my girl is naggin today. I'll give the lures a shot the next time I go down there. I don't remember seeing any regs about single barbless hooks. Are we not supposed to use barbed treble hooks on the snohomish?

Snohomish River is an anti-snagging rule river. When fishing from short, only one single-point hook; when from boat, you can have up to 2 single-point hooks. Weights must be attached more than 12" above the hook. Barded is ok. Hook's opening must not be wider than 3/4".
