Just like every other body of water in the northwest this spring Rock Lake is blown out. The good news is that the water level had dropped a good foot from the previous weekend so I expect fishing to improve over the next couple of weeks. Visibility was terrible, about 1ft. Water temp was right at 40F so everything was getting turned up. While fish were scattered throughout the water column fish were keyed in to artificials trolled at 2mph right on the surface. Most fish were caught in the "skull and crossbones" area in less than 20 fow. Ended the day releasing about a dozen small rainbows, keeping two of the larger ones and two steelhead transplants which are running right at 18" now. There was a good handful of boats on the water but we did not see any of them boat a single fish. One boat said he boated a few using the same technique at the lake inlet.

Looks like the visibility isn't much more than 1 foot. What is the "skull and crossbones" area? Not familiar with this lake.

Apologies for the late reply, Skull and crossbones is about half way down the lake where people lose a lot of gear...especially down rigger balls. The secret of Rock Lake is a double edged sword, fish hold to the structure and structure eats fishing gear. Fish the lake, learn the lake, Love the lake.
