Got to the lake around 9 a.m. It was incredibly busy already. Although I am not familiar with this lake, my companion and others we chatted with said that this is the highest the water has ever been.

We fished off of the bridge, dropping straight down with Rappala type diving lures letting them catch in the current and taking them out. We had more luck with the wide bill lures that had a lot of wiggle action to them. I managed to catch 2 rainbows around 12inches and got what looked like a steelhead which I lost. My companion got an 8-9in rainbow. The fish I caught were male and female, both squirting out eggs and such, I’m unsure if they may possibly be spawning.

We left around noon, during this time the entire launch area was made up of an entire armada of boats, trucks and trailers. The game warden was out checking licenses and such.

Overall decent fishing for us, being out for 3hrs and getting our first fish of the year.

We went adventuring more in the area and did a bit of shore fishing at Sprague Lake as well and got nothing. Lots of flooding in the local area there.
