Fished Rock Lake from apx. 1:45pm until 4pm. Testing a new perch-colored OG1 and pitting it against the tried-and-true colors that have been effective on Rock (fluorescent orange and fluorescent pink). The perch-colored actually outfished both. But, we lost the test lure to what must have been a basalt outcropping in the first hour.

Next to the 2.8" perch pattern, a fluorescent pink in the same size was also effective.

Caught several steelhead plants and a nice bow. Had three more fish come unbuttoned at the boat while we were getting the net ready.

All in all, a great two hours of fishing!!

Dandy looking fish Donn, glad to see you made it out. Did you have any trouble with the fall planted trout? They sure have been pesky in the past. We still need to make a trip to Roosevelt; have heat will fish!

Donn: Nice looking pictures and report.. Boy it looks cold over there! Sounds like that new perch 2.8 did a good job. I'm not sure what my daughter ordered from you for my Christmas present, but if she didn't get on of those perch 2.8 lures I'd love to get one to try. You'd have to look on your records and see what Lisa ordered. If the snow/ice/wind, and pass conditions would ever cooperate for a few days we would love to come over. But at this time of year it's hard to get that. It's a 7- 1/2 hour run from here to Rock and about 8 hours to Roosevelt. We've got to really watch the weather when we come that far. How was the wind when you were there? Take care,Tight lines.

Very nice looking fish Donn. I will be ordering some of those perch colored lures soon. Think they will work well at Roosevelt. :-)

Merry Christmas to you!!

Alan: We didn't encounter any of the fall plants: Believe that every fish we hooked was in the 16+ inch range. (That Roosevelt trip sounds good. It'd be interesting to see how the new perch-colored lure does up there.)

One note: We were trolling slow. I had the 8HP Tohatsu dialed back to it's slowest idle. But, once we did this, the fish were consistently nailing the OG1.

Thanks for the report! was the "launch" icy? noticed snow on the ground in your picture.

RWL: Yes--the launch was icy. Because we were only launching a small 16-foot clackacraft drift boat, it was doable. But, I'd be hesitant to try to launch anything with more size or mass. (You'd likely need chains, or, a shovel and sand or gravel at some point...)

Hey great report and love seeing these reports from the other side with all that white stuff on the ground! I'll shoot you a message once I can get back out and try out your lures on either Lake WA or Lake Sammamish soon on this side!! Merry Christmas to all!

Barry: Appreciate it! (The more data we can grab related to species, water conditions, trolling speeds, etc, the better.)

Thank you!

gonna hit Lake Sammamish Monday and I'm sure some OGLs will be on the menu!

Mike: Appreciate your giving them a try in Sammamish! (We've actually taken nice trout out of Rock with the 3.9" OG1. It'd be interesting to see if there's a similar response from the cutts over there.)

Thanks!
