Was hoping for a little more cloud cover and wind for this gin clear lake but made do with what I got. Started to the right of the launch and started with a swimbait through the pads. Had a couple make a run at it but no strike. I switched to a chatterbait and same thing. Upon closer inspection it was just bass beginning to nest running my bait off cause the females were ready to dance!

I motored down the opposite shore trying to fish deeper water with docks. Missed two good blowups on my swimbait so decided to stick with that, mixing in a floating Rapala around overhangs just to mess with some pumpkinseeds.

I didn't get bit good until I got all the way down to the other end of the lake where the bank is much steeper. Tossed in by a dock and slowly reeled it back near a single clump of pads in about 10' of water and wham! Immediately put the boat in reverse and backed out away from the docks. Fish jumped twice, that didn't thrill me as I knew I only had one hook in her. She made a couple decent runs under the boat and I was able to grab her! Initially she went 6.5lbs but then relaxed and I got a solid reading of 6.3lbs.

I did not get another hit until I got back onto the launch side of the lake at that end. Nabbed another one that jumped and spit me I would guess in the 3.5-4 range. Then boated my second of the day at 2.5lbs. Had numerous follows from under the deeper docks, if I had more time and all of my gear I would have stayed in that corner and tried a couple different rigs but I brought what I brought and had the time I had...

All in all a cool trip, especially with the osprey, eagles, dancing / mating red wing black birds and the polar bear that lives at the house right by the launch :o

Great fish. I'd say the polar bear is of the Kuvasz variety. :-)

Nice report and great photos. Nice Hawg! I won't even mention my personal best bass at Bosworth. Looked like a nice sized pumpkin seed sunfish - did it hit your Rapala? My best Bosworth fish was a 19 inch, 2 pounds, 11 ounces Rainbow Trout that hit a Rapala 11 S. A lakeside homeowner shot a photo for me on my camera.
