This report is for 01/16 & 01/18. On 16jan. Got on the water around 2 ish. Couple other people out there, right by the boat launch. I don't usually like to fish by crouds. So I head to the main lake. Get to where it opens up. Ice is 4 inches... Drill my 5 starting holes. 10-14 ft. No fish, work each one for about 5 minutes them move to the next. Finish my first set, decide to go deeper. Drill 3 holes 20 ft. 28 ft. And 32 ft. First one. Not a fish. Second one, drop the spoon down and it just lights up with fish. Nothing big (obviously) pull them up left and right. Move to the last hole to finish out the day and same story. Couldn't keep them off the hook...
01/18- got out on the water about 1130, all the snow was melted and there was about half inch of slush and standing water. Ice was still 3-4 inches 3 the further you went out. Went to my holes from the day before. Started at the deeper one, they were there but they were stubborn. Drop the spoon down and they would swarm but not take it. Finally managed to hook two little ones and feed ol blue the heron. Move to the 28 ft hole and they annihilated the spoon. Before I could bounce the bottom it was already getting bit. Biggest was 6 inches. I left him go. Caught about 10more before blue got full and flew off. Decides to try out in the deeper water for bigger perch.. Fished 3 holes. 45,50,52. Got 1 fish out of each one. Nothing bigger then 4-5 inches. And you really had to work for them. Slam the bottom to get their attention. Then finnesse them to bite. Won't be out for another week or so.. Hopefully the ice holds out
