Waiting on my 16 tab for the boat to show up in the mail prompted me to run over to rock lake. The air was cold and the bite was hot. We arrived around 1pm and fished from shore and caught 10 nice steelhead in a few hours. My kokanee corn was stumbled as the bait to have. We fished slip bobber and definitely had better luck than those with regular bobber and the bottom guys.

Thanks for the report high country, hows the water level, good enough to launch a 12 footer off a trailer? FYI, aren't your 2015 boat tabs good until June 30th?, should be. What size were the Steelhead running?

A guy launched a 25' jet while I was there. My boat is an idaho boat so it is Dec 31st for me. The fish are about 14" avg. The Browns are running very big. 10 ish pounds.

Thank you for the report. I have never fished Rock lake. Can you tell me about where to go from shore and maybe what depth you were fishing if you're willing to give up that information. Thanks again!

Sackass, Rock is a great lake to fish from shore. This time of year the fish are usually in the top twenty feet of the water column. However, the depth at the launch can be deeper than 50 feet and anglers often catch fish off the bottom here. One thing to be aware of when bank fishing is a submerged cliff line about 10-15 feet from the shore that is easy to snag your tackle on. This is why most people use slip bobbers as mentioned in other post.
