Had the day off work and the chores were going to have to wait... Got on the water at 5:30 and started tossing a Bob Johansen special, a "floating Rapala". I learned Bass fishing as a kid with this type of lure and it is still my "go to" presentation.
Anyway... it was a beautiful morning and the water was like glass with a little fog rolling up. Was fishing in and out of the pads casting into any area of open water with a really slow retrieve. Caught 1 dink so at least I had the skunk off. Missed a good blow up but then around 8:30 I landed the first 5 pounder of the year. Caught a few more but nothing worth taking a pic of except catching two fish at the same time. Did this once before but thought it was pretty funny. Those little guys hang out together and compete for the same bait. This one ended in a tie...Hahaha

That's a great photo, thx. for sharing. I need to break out my Rapalas. They are one of the lures that never get wet, not sure why though.

Nice report - And photos! I have fished that lake a few times with some success. My best fish was a 5-11 that hit a gold size 11 floating Rapala while fishing with my oldest son on the morning of April 13, 1985. I have also caught a "double" on size 11 Rapalas a few times. The biggest double were 12 inchers that hit silver floating Rapala in Spectacle Lake on May 18, 1985. I love those Rapalas!

I love it when you get a twofer on same lure...done that twice with two bass 7" each and two crappie about 5" each. Good report and nice fish. I need to go up and hit Beaver Lake again.
