Went out with a buddy who I'm teaching the ropes of bass fishing. It was warm out but a bit windy and hard to control my pontoon and his kayak. Spent about an hour roaming around hitting various docks to the left of the boat launch on our way to the reeds with no luck but a few nibbles...too small to eat our senkos and jigs. Saw a lot of beds but thought they might be bluegill? Though some guy said the bass spawned in the lake in march, though I find that hard to believe even with the really mild winter. My first time on the lake so I was pleased to come up on a little stream. I let myself drift toward in and stood up as I saw what looked like a nice bass roaming at the mouth in 3 ft of water. Threw my texas rig at it and got some attention but it ignored it a roamed some more. On a whim I grabbed a black and blue vibrating jig I happened to grab at the walmart on the way there and threw it roughly ten feet past it. I retrieved about 6 inches below surface and the lady inhaled it! My first sight fish on my first ever cast with a chatterbait...it was a great fight standing on my pontoon as I've only fished in it twice and got to end with some pics before released back to mouth of the creek. She was roughly 3 lbs, I say roughly as I don't know if I trust this rapala scale yet. Only fish of the day. We saw another in that back cove area right up against the cement retaining wall. It was roaming as well. Threw everything we had at it from a distance but it wasn't interested...maybe looking for a mate? Not the greatest day fish wise but it was a good day none the less. I really like these chatterbaits
