I would have given this a 3 1/2 myself, but my 4 year old grand daughter said it was a 100 star day, so that averaged it to a 5. This was her first ever fishing trip and she is now hooked for life :) She had an absolute blast. Turns out she is one heck of a fisher woman!

We got on the water about 8:30 or so and started out trying for bass in the toolies but had no luck. We saw lots of jumpers and two eagles making dives and carrying off small fish, so we switched over to trout gear. Between her two grand uncles and myself, she brought in around 15 trout today including two nice hold overs around 18". Most were planters in the 10"-12" range but they all fought really hard including many acrobatic jumps. These guys were really feisty today. The bite wasnt ever really hot but we caught fish steadily all day pretty much every where we tried.

We caught a few under bobbers and bottom fishing with power bait of all colors (pink was the best) but worms were the hot ticket today. We tried bottom fishing, bobber fishing and trolling. Pretty much anything with a worm got hit. One of the best options was trolling at around 1.2 to 1.5 mph with Macks walleye smile blade rigs in chartreuse tipped with worms. That got the most fish and the biggest. The second biggest was bottom fishing with pink power bait in 36ft of water.

I marked several large targets on the bottom in the deaper parts of the lake but we couldnt interest them. WDFW planted about 220 trout averaging around 4 pounds but we didnt see any of those today. There were maybe 6 other boats out and we saw several small fish getting caught but no lunkers while we were looking.

Between the weather, which was better than forecast, and my little jewels ecstatic giggles all day long, it was a very memorable trip indeed :)
