At age 60+, I finally went ice fishing for the first time. I am lucky to work with some good people and they convinced me to give it a try. Even with a near "Death March" hike across the polar-like ice to "THE SPOT", the four of us failed to get so much as a bite. Bait switches, different holes in the ice and moves still resulted in NO FISH/NO BITES. Absolutely beautiful day with plenty of afternoon sun and no wind. However, melting surface ice in the afternoon made for a slick and somewhat slippery return hike. A good 4"-6" of ice in every hole; so the lake and other Winter only lakes are fishable. I'll try it again; the weather, the friendly bantering between each other; all made made for a fun trip even with the lack of fish.
