I got a chance got hook up with my best buddy and brother Roger Mineard of Yakima to give some steelies a shot down at Drano Lake last thursday. I was itching to give my newly dyed shrimp a try and to test out my newly installed improvements on my 10 foot Jon boat. Over all it was slow as Drano can be a tough nut to crack at times esp with the strong winds and some what testy fellow anglers. Roger and I fished early where I picked up a 10 pound plus hatchery keeper on a florescent red shrimp. We met a really nice couple from Tieton and fished near them most of the day. What surprised me most was the light fishing pressure, with most of the boats concentrating on chinooks in the main river. Rog is a hell of a guy as he helped me get my fish off both the anchor rope and trolling motor. It felt good netting his nice keeper for him too. We got off the water just as a major storm front hit, as we had to do 30 mph back home due to the torrential rain. Hope to get up on the Snake in the next few weeks for the B run steelhead.
