I guess I must admit that the Bass have finally started to show up. I caught a few that were actually quite large (6+ pounds), a few that were mid 3 pounders, one that was 12.5" and a couple that were sub 6".
I suppose that the good news is that there are LMB in all size groups, but the bad news is that there may not be any food for them to eat in the future. I found no bluegill, even though the state tells us there are some big ones. I found no crappie either. In fact, Four Seasons Resort tells me that they have not seen a single bluegill, crappie, or channel catfish since the re-stalk.
I found one dead LMB that was 19.5" and weighed 4.75 pounds. It was fresh enough that it was clear it had just recently died. There was no sign of hook damage or angler damage. It appears that the fish "choked" to death.
The bass had at least three smaller bass in it's throat and one was backward. That normally spells disaster.
Of course, as long as the state keeps stalking fingerling trout and small catchables, the Bass will have food. LOL
At 5:30 am the wind was about 20 mph out of the East and water temperature was 64 degrees. By 4:00 PM, the wind was dead and the water temperature was 73 degrees. The air temperature at 5:30 was cold, but I did not check it. The air temp by 4:00 PM was 86 degrees.
The water is experiencing a major algae bloom, but this is quite normal and actually a good thing for Sprague.
