Headed out Saturday morning with the fam for the trout derby not knowing what to expect.(First timer) My dad landed the first nice one, an hour later I caught one that we knew would put us in the running for the derby. We caught a couple small ones here and there for the next few hours and called it a day. Hit the weigh ins and we ended up taking 1st and 2nd place. Dads was 4lbs 5oz and mine was 6lbs 1oz and 24 1/2 in. Thanks S.L.U.G for such a great time!

Not sure. I haven't ate any, I left the fish with my buddy to smoke for me.

Nice Job! Real beauties familyman509. Time spent with our dad's becomes very special as the years go by.
afk - In my opinion the only time they may be edible is right before ice up in the late fall. I am VERY spoiled by the trout from Rock and Lake Roosevelt for quality/taste. AH

Thanks, for the comments guys. I believe they start to get that muddy taste as they get bigger and more mature. The little guys always taste the best in my opinion.
