The wind was a little strong for us to launch at Soda lake today as we had planned so we thought we would hit Sprague lake on our way home to Spokane. We got on the water about noon at the resort and motored to the west end of the lake. The wind was coming out of the west at between 5-10mph so we got close to Harper Island and put the stern to the wind. I just used the kicker to keep a little control of the boat. I was using an F7 rappalla and my wife was dragging a Les Davis Bolo rig followed by a wedding ring. Within two minutes she has a fish on, just as I grab for the net my pole begins the dance. Two fish at once in the wind can be fun. We got both in the boat, one was 19" the other was 22", nice way to start. We turned and went back thru that area again, I lost two fish and she lost one on that pass, they were all about the size that we had boated. The wind died down and the bite turned off.about 4:00 we were talking about heading home but the wind was picking up a bit so I wanted to try another pass up by the island. We went within 300 yards of the west end of the lake and put the stern to the wind. It was FISH ON as soon as we got in the water. Most were about 12" except for one that about bent my pole in half, we got him in the boat, he was right at 24" and fat. As soon as that one was in the boat my wife had one take hers and she couldn't turn him around. He stripped off about 100 yards of line without looking back. when she cound see the bottom of her spool she tried to tighten the drag a little and thats all it took, he snapped her 8#test like it was nothing.
