Arrived at Silver about 3:30 p.m. and fished till dark. Fished primarily the East side of the lake from Picnic Pines resort down south to the point where the miniature lighthouse is located. Anywhere you found tree stumps or rocks there were bluegill and a few bass. These fish were unbelievably aggressive and after ripping up six plastic jigs I resorted to using artificial maggots on my jig head in place of a plastic skirt with worm. Many of the bluegill I caught were bigger than my hand. I normally only ice fish this lake for perch and had no idea how large the bluegill population is. I hate to admit it but these fish were a blast to catch on an ultralight rod. I will be introducing my young son to this lake real soon.

The bluegill are tasty too. Strangely enough, I've never caught them ice fishing, only in the summer.
