Decided to scout out the panfishing in Wapato after finishing a morning project. Launched around 12:30ish and started around the southeast side. Water temp was 82* and the sun was HOT. No one else crazy enough to be on the water, but I needed a fix pretty bad. The fish That I could see were super shy. There were some bluegill and bass in the shallows, but when a lure would hit the water, all fish in a fifty feet range would disappear. So stealth was an important factor. Lots of the 5-7" bluegill fell to the ole trusty Jig "IF" it was in Micro size.. 1/64 oz was iffy, but the 1/80 oz was readily taken. On the east sidde I found an area in about 6-10 feet of water where the Bull Bluegill were hanging out. Big, Dark, and full of fight. Once again it took the smallest bait I had to get them to hook up. They would chase other offerings, but were reluctant to commit on anything but the smallest I could offer. I cought several Nice sized female bluegill that were full of "eggs", and there were several Nests visable. Fished some deeper water to pick up some nice crappie, and had some yellow perch follow. Also, the LMB were all along the reeds, but were more skiddish than the bluegill. I was only on the water for a couple of hours, and was able to catch Bluegill, crappie, and One LMB. What a whopper. LOL Be sure to take p;enty of liquid along and be aware of the dangers of tripple digit temps. Be safe out there
