Steel Lake Report – Wednesday, 06-20-12
After finishing a very important honey-do task, I just had to go fishing to relax. I got to the lake about 8:40pm.
Since the pink and red power egg combination has been working well, I decided to use it again. I think the trout have caught on to my formerly hot combination. There were no takers for the next fifteen minutes or so.
Two gentlemen to my right were catching trout fairly consistently. I turned toward them, and noted what they were using and how far they were making their casts. The guy to my immediate right was using chartreuse power dough with glitter and the guy to his right was using bright orange or red. I didn’t have the latter, but I had the former, so I slapped some onto the hook.
I got my first bite shortly after placing my cast at about the same distance they made their casts. I reacted fast enough to avoid bringing in a deeply hooked fish. It was a feisty, little planter and it was hooked in the kisser. I released it quickly and it dashed away.
With the sun dipping down, and not having any more takers, I took off the dough and put on a power and yellow and white. It was just what trout number two ordered. Upon release, it too swam away to be caught another day.
I had to wrap it up after that because the park was going to close. It was fun.
