King County's Steel Lake covers 46 surface acres and has a maximum depth of 24 feet. Fish species include largemouth bass, yellow perch, pumpkinseed sunfish, brown bullhead catfish and lots of planted rainbow trout. This lake has a Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife public access. The access area usually has adquate paved parking space, a portable toilet during the spring and a good concrete block boat ramp. No internal combustion engines are allowed on the lake. The WDFW access area is adjecent to Federal Way Recreation Park which has a nice fishing dock and modern restrooms. Bob Johansen
