Got to lake around 12:30 Seen that wind was up and me with out outboard so heard for nearest calm cover of course it is across the lake. As my lady friend and i approached the opposite shore we made a few casts to the emergent algae slime that has reached the surface in deeper water with no luck so started to work the shallow brush and log edges flippin a jig and pig. I also threw a boogie bait with no takes. Lady friend was casting a home made black sink-o. After A bit of time she put down pole to watch scenery. (Bald Eagle show on this lake is always present). she said go ahead and use her pole so made a couple of casts and reeled in fast to get feel of pole then made cast to lily's in deeper water. Pick up by bigger fish (5lbs 3ozs) was in the middle of lily pads with just line movement only. The smaller fish (4lbs 1oz) did the same type of strike but in the brush (note back ground in picture) at only 1 foot of water around roots limbs and logs from a fallen tree. water temp 63 degrees with windy conditions and over cast skies with intermittent sun.
