My dad, brother and I went to Sylvia for opening weekend. We caught 8 fish between us for the weekend but the highlight was my accidental monster. We had had a few drinks at our campsite and I decided that I would go cast a line from our campsite which was right on the lake. The first cast I yelled "I got one!". I had no idea the size until I got the fish to shore. I have never caught a fish that I could not lift out of the water with my fishing rod. This one would not come out of the water until my brother grabbed it. As he tried to get the hook out, the fish thrashed and spit the hook. My brother said he could not get halfway around the fish with one hand. It was the biggest trout I have ever caught. My guess is about 2-3 pounds maybe? I was using a rainbow trout Kastmaster. Super fun weekend despite not boating as many fish as we would have liked. Lake Sylvia State Park is an amazing campground with many sites that backup to the lake. We kept our 10 foot livingston in the water the whole weekend and could launch from our site. Will certainly come back. Unfortunately no pictures of the monster.
