On the lake at 7:00. Jerry and Al already there and beginning to catch some perch. Motor1 showed a few minutes later, ditto for Jim and his wife. With others in 35' of water, Motor 1 and I decided to head further out, to 40' of water. The bite started slow for us but Jerry was hammering them in closer to shore. We started getting regular takes at about 7:30, a bite that lasted until about 8:45. When they stopped.....they stopped! From 9:00 until 10:00 we only got 3-4 between the five of us.

Motor and I ended up with 20 keepers between the two of us, with another dozen or so thrown back. Jerry was the man today, getting a couple dozen while fishing the shallower water.

Thanks for the report. How thick is the ice and what condition is it in?

Great point, Kfedka......I should have included ice info! The ice is solid across the lake, thanks to these continuing sub-freezing nights. Very little melt going on during the days. Closer to the bank it's 8-9". Further out it's 4-5". Not a lot but it's firm and safe. Over the past few days, it's gained about an inch, and will make more in the upcoming week. The only "iffy" area I've seen is on the west side, about 100 yards south of the red boat house. I don't know the source, but there is flowing water entering the lake there, creating an area of open water on warmer days. When it does freeze at night it's only an 1" or so from what I can tell. It can be seen from a distance.
