On the lake just after sunrise. Morning bite's getting shorter and shorter. This morning it was approximately 2 minutes. Got 5 fish in rapid sequence and then it shut off. Roamed the northern ice and drilled holes. Marked three more schools which would give up 2 bites then disappear. Lost two at the hole and only got one more fish for my efforts. Took home six. Lake was a ghost-town by 10AM, and I called it quits at noon. Two minutes of good fishing is not worth the drive. As one guy put it, "The perch aren't actin like perch." Think we need to starve 'em a little- fishing should be better in Feb if we still got ice.
