Collected about twenty hand-sized gills over two days worth of evening fishing on 8/19 & 20 from ~1800 till sundown (till when I can't see my bobber anymore). Bite really seems to pickup right before and at sundown - lots of fish feeding, particularly large fish (type unknown) splashing around and jumping - definitely not the same splashes as turtles make. Although I see a ton of turtles and the occasional musk rat while fishing the shoreline. Made for a nice fish fry in mustard and corn meal (a la Southern catfish style).
