Anyone who knows of these lakes knows how hard it is to get there so I won't go into detail in that area. I fished the two larger lakes on July 22nd and 23rd. I had better luck in the mornings and with spinners, specifically my Panther Martin #2 holographic/rainbow. The fish could be seen schoolin up and eating off the surface. I've never seen rainbows swim so close to the surface, and in small schools, that it reminded me of a scene from "Jaws" but I did at the largest Mildred lake. Next time I go I'm going to toss my line in the log jam area just as you come down the last ridge and to the first lake. I've heard of some decent size fish being chased around in that area by an unsuccessfull fisherman.
Anyone with some tips or stories on these three lakes please feel free to comment on this post. I'd be very interested in hearing what you have to say since I will be going back to these lakes before summer is over...this time with a poncho, my 4 piece St. Croix, Pflueger and a box of spinners. I'm leaving the pack at home next time!
