Back to Silver this evening to de-stress by catching some bluegill; Glad they were cooperating. Fished from 1800-2030. I know it's getting repetitive, but used the usual size 18 parachute adams fly fished on the surface or just sub-surface. The choice area I fished last time was occupied, so I was forced me to try someplace new. However, it seems wherever I find 'em, they still like to hit small surface flies; Outfished everybody else that was using big bobbers, jigs or bait.

Was planning on giving away my creel today (still got fish in the freezer and didn't really want to fillet), but the family fishing my previous spot was aloof and unfriendly when I approached... So, no fish for you then.

Still think the morning bite is the way to go, but since everybody's gotta work for a living...

Thanks for the report Jay. Have you tried out Perch fishing on Silver yet.

Jay, great report.
My question is this, if you still have fish in the freezer, why not enjoy the sport of catching then releasing the fish.
I have found I derive much better satisfaction in enjoying the battle of my quarry and then to release the opponent to fight another day or to continue to increase it's population for future generations to enjoy. Just a thought.

Jay, a great fly to use for gills is a sponge spider...

I see hundreds of Bluegill on every trip to Silver this year while bass fishing, & i am not even looking for em'. I've even caught a few on 4 & 5 inch plastics. They're that aggressive. It's a great thing your doing in harvesting these fish as abundant as they are in this lake. Plus the joy of watching your dry fly get sucked in by any hard fighting game fish is one of the greatest thrills in fishing. Just can't be beat. - William Krels

Were you fishing from shore or in a boat? I've only fished Silver on the ice. Where should I start if I want to flyfish for the crappie?
