Hard to drive past the likes of McMurray and Big to come fish this little pond, but I have been on this lake when the bass are feeding on fry, and it sure can be worth it....at times.
Launched into the 62* stained water and started out on the east side of the lake. The grass is starting to thicken here so I tossed topwaters through the pads, and flipped the reed edges with a black texas-rigged lizard. One good hit on the lizard, the fish ran right back towards the boat but unfortunately I couldn't catch up to him to get a good hookset, gone. Caught several dinks on a floating Rapala. Missed a nice one on a buzzbait in the flooded green reed grass, couldn't get him to take a follow up bait. Stayed sunny until I decided to try my luck and check on the spawning status on nearby Clear Lake.
