Actual target was brookies.

What an amazing lake. I'll cut to the chase,no fish caught but several follows
on a Kastmaster spoon in rainbow/chrome. Saw alot of topwater action.
We had intended to check out a few other lakes in the area but we had my
wife's grandparents with us and didn't want them getting over worked. They had
burned up a ton of energy playing with their great grandson.
My wife has been here a few times but this was my first trip here and I'll
certainly be back,I'd even fish here if I was 100% sure I wouldn't catch anything.
It was that gorgeous and well worth the trip.
Big shout out to The Quadfather for the information provided.

Afterward,we headed up to Barlow Pass and then Big 4. Regardless of lack of fish
caught,today was a 10.
Took a few photos of Coal Lake, not the best quality but hope you enjoy.

Thanks for the report. Sorry the fishing wasn't so hot. Can't remember if I was telling you or not, but I carried my float tube into Independence lake, located about 600' up that road. Then it's a quick .5 mile hike. Had a handful of hits on the fly rod, but couldn't land anything. If you go back up there some time, you've got to bring a float tube and wader (cold) When you are out on that kind of water you will see 20-25' in depth, and see fish doing thing right below you. Amazing!
