i got onto the water around 7:30 a.m. I had a follow from about a 28-30 inch fish on my first cast. On cast 15 or 20 i had a follow from a fish approaching 40 inches. Both on bucktails. The big fish turned twice on figure eights but then just suspended their like he was stoned. I had two other follows later in the morning on a perch colored jointed rapala. ( The biggest size.) Both fish in the mid 30's. Water temp varied from 57 to 61 degrees. Saw a couple more fish cruising lazily in the deeper timber. I tried my staple lures and even threw some bigger lures (10-12 inchers with no luck) Bottom line is you can see 15 to twenty feet down right now. The algae just started to bloom so the water should start to get a little less clear. Once it turns a little green the fish shouldn't be so cautious. If you love action fishing I'd be fishing the first week of June. I've had two five fish days in June over the years and a couple of four fish days. Bucktails are a good bet and bigger crankbaits. Had a great day on the water though, I think the algae scared some people off.
