I fished Cranberry Lake this morning for 2 hours starting at 8am and only managed 2 fish, one of which was a perch which surprised me. The other was a small plant. Fish were turning everywhere and I tried several different presentations as I trolled most of the lake. When I arrived there were no other boats on the lake which was nice. Last year on opening day I fished this lake and it was nonstop action. Maybe the water is still a little too cold for the trout, 56 degrees F. By 10:30 the wind was starting to pick up and it was cold, maybe 45 degrees outside, so I called it quits. I will try a few newly opened lakes that are closer to home tomorrow and Monday and look forward to reading everyone’s reports..

Maybe I am reading this wrong... On the lake opening day?? Cranberry is a year round lake, and I am sure that you are aware of that. When I was stationed there 99-03, about a month after the planting, dicknites were the way to catch them. Just watch out for the otter.
