I went out to Spencer Lake last Friday. It was a great day with the temp being about 60+ degrees. Since this is winter fishing I went up to the north east side of the lake where it is deepest (35'). I started with a small spinner bait that was white/silver with a small silver blade and a smaller gold blade. I had painted a red eye on the big blade with finger nail polish for added attract ant. I ran the 35 foot line and cast into shore as far as I could cast and then yo-yo the spinner along the steep drop-off. I caught a nice two pounder and released him. About an hour later I had switched to a lipless crank bait and used the same presentation and caught another two pounder. Just before I left I cast a split shot rig with a Goby type plastic on it and caught a one/quarter pound bass. All in all not a bad day for winter fishing for only 3 hours or so.
