Got to McIntosh at 4 p.m. to find a shallow boat ramp. Launched the boat and got swarmed by bees from the tree right next to the launch! Finally got to fishing and the grass was just horrible the whole lake was covered in grass! But being a stubborn true basser I didn't let that scare me away. Caught a few dinks on a spinnerbait, one that was close to 2 lbs on a jig, and of course some dinks on a senko. I did have a nice 4 pounder follow my spinnerbait, quickly grabbed my other rod to switch it up and threw the jig......nothing! It was very windy too. All fish were still holding pretty tight to cover! Water was 61. Left at 7 when I finally got fed up with all the grass. Maybe some grass carp would help in this lake. All dinks were released to feed the bass I couldn't find!

I ran into Dave Newby about 6 weeks ago at McIntosh
I believe he got himself a girlfriend and has probably been using his other rod lately... "lucky dog"

Last year somone was accusing him of retaining bass. I didn't see the harm in it, he would take a photo of them on a stringer, I'm 100% sure he let them go. Since then he's never posted any reports. We all have to thank the guy was accusing him, I've never met Dave, but I heard he's a good guy.

The way I see it is that if someone wants to keep fish that are legal to do so for eatin, leave em alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny how people are bashing Dave, yet the owner of this site did a video with him about fishing for bass. (Fishing Silver lake in Cowlitz County, 6/15/2007, page 2)..So are you all saying Mike Carey fishes with poachers and illegal fish retainers? How many of you have videos on file? Maybe Dave is tired of dealing with people who don't deserve his knowledge..did you every read his reports, very informative.....It's getting really old with the same people who think they need to police the other fisherman...Catch and release is the way to go but not the law,.... so get over it......He doesn't post because he doesn't need to explain himself to anyone especially on this site.

all I know is i'd like him to take me out someday and show me a thing or two and I aint to proud to admit it. because I know he is one heck of a jigger which is my weak spot and I know he is one heck of a fisherman, like him or not.
