Took a very quick hike, and late start into Coal lake this afternoon.
Since this is the fishing report section, I will make this a very basic fishing report. But if you go to the Alpine lakes section of the forum I have left a more detailed report on the area conditions at the lake etc.
Anyway I didn't even get to the lake until 3:45 pm, this gave me 1 hour to float tube the perimeter of the lake. It was raining , and blowing most of the time. Of course there was no one there due to trail issues (see forum). The water was incredibly cold. After 1 pass I was shaking so bad I had to leave. I only had shorts on.
I dragged an Olive wooly bugger around. I caught 3 small brookies, 7" I lost 3 others due to their not being able to deal with the fly size I think. Also had a fair amount of hits along the way, and saw some surface action from small brookies. Considering the bad weather, I thought that was pretty good actually. The water is extremely clear, and if you go, you must climb over to the rock slide area and fish from there. I;m sorry for no pictures, but the camera that I brought with me came with dead batteries.
