Today was a tough day. According to one person that I know, he said that the F & W had checked all of the lakes in the area, and had only checked one fish all day.
He never checked my boat, we hit 12 and kept the 10 between the two of us that we could. Still, the bluebird skies, wind so calm the lake was often glass, and all of this following several days of overcast and some wind, and rain, the change was pretty hard on the fish.
The lake started out with a 41 degree surface temperature, warming to about 48. At the inlet, with the river running in, I found 51 degrees right in the mud line. It was cold water for sure.
The Rainbows did a no show on us today, but the browns run from 15" to a 24". Most of the time we would see the fish follow as we retrieved, just to watch them turn and leave as the lure got close to the boat. We threw everything, every color, every size, and the winner was...... luck. I don't think we caught two fish on the same item.
