Hit the Lake about 8:30 AM and man was it packed,..the dock was full of Anglers and the Lake was loaded with boats! Launched my 16' Trihull,..{biggest boat on the water till the drift boats showed up,..LOL} and we were off. My son is a nut,..he was wearing his "Papasaan" fishing hat and was acting a fool,...man I gotta get me one of those hats! We started to troll right away and the action was dull. I noticed on my fish finder there were a ton of fish 20' down in the middle of the Lake so we set up for bottom fishing,...3/4 egg weight,...4'-5' leader and orange Power bait. About 20 mins then the action started. We caught RBT continually from 10 AM-1PM,...limited out so we decided to troll around the Lake. I figured I'd try some top action so i rigged my Lil Brown Trout Rapala and trolled,..those lil RBT started to hit my line very aggressively,..one after the next,..my son had a top water Rapala also and we couldn't keep them off our lines!! We liked using the lures because it was easier to C&R the fish w/o hurting them. All-n-all we caught about 35 RBT! What a day. Although one doesnt need a lot of experience to catch these RBT it was still a great day at Steel Lake and we will definitely be back again!
