The parking lot was completely filled. I had to park my boat trailer in what had been a swamp area just a couple of weeks before. In fact, I have been fishing this lake for almost 10 years, and I have never seen so many people fishing, both off shore and from boats.
Yes, the three of us did catch trout, but not as many as we usually do. We saw trollers, some deep and some shallow, and we saw bait chuckers, and all seemed to be doing about the same. We even saw one boat fly fishing at the exit.
One troller we had been watching was using a downrigger for one of the rods, and fish shallow on another. I check in with them at the end of the trip and they had three fish between the two of them.
In conclusion, we did better than most,. but probably not as well as some. The right color was the color for one or two fish, than they would not touch it. Lures? Again, no pattern, you just had to keep changing up.
The water was 41 to 43 degrees, with very light wind and a bright sun overhead. The day may have been just too nice.
