Rock was interesting today. It is the first trip I have been able to take here this year, and the flow out of the lake is the largest I have seen in the 9 years I have been fishing Rock. Still, the lake, at least as far as the dog leg narrows, is crystal clear (not the normal green). The water temperature ranged from 38 degrees to 40 degrees, with wind starting low in the beginning, exceeding 30 MPH by noon. We left with 4' waves, and I did not enjoy the ride even in my 18'6" boat.

I caught 8 fish, kept 4, three nice bows and 5 browns. I had two others in the boat with me, and one caught and released two bows and one brown, the other guy (poor old friend has troubles seeing and casting now, so we to make it easy for him) caught and kept one nice brown. We all lost additional fish, but when the winds hit hard about 10:30, the pattern died. Still, we fished about 4 hours and caught 12 fish and lost a few and that is pretty good.

Note that there were a lot of boats at the launch area, but the lake is large enough that you hardly noticed it. The ramp is as hard as always to launch boats from (rock and dirt launch). I had concerns about some of the smaller boats on the lake. I could not believe that a guy was out there with an electric motor and oars, with his young son. He fished as far as the second small bay on the South side, but I'll bet he was tired by the time he got back to the ramp. When the wind kicks up on this lake, it can and has been a killer. Please be careful out there.
