Rock lake 1, Gisteppo and The Thumb, 0.
Sunny, warm, no wind.
Had a good time, it was a nice boat trip. We rallied down to Rock as this was The Thumb's first real day away in quite a while due to the twins. We made it to the lake at about 11, launched on the precarious launch, and commenced to trolling.
Launch is in mediocre condition, still snowy but with 4wd you can get in and out. We trolled the morning away with dodgers, flashers, flies and crankbaits. He tried a pink apex without a bite. After several hours trolling the lake, I managed to find a fish pulling cowbells and a daredevle through the water. Said fish made it to the surface, putting on a stellar fight. Once it saw the boat, the fish went into overdrive, twisting and spinning crazily. Unfortunately, this particular lure has a penchant for coming out of fish (yes the hooks are sharp, yes the barbs are good), and didn't disappoint. She was a beautiful chrome, but not destined for the dinner plate.
The Thumb trolled a variety of goodies, taking two strikes. Once was a cast into the shallows, the other just a random troll from 50' deep water to 170' deep water. BOTH strikes were on a perch print crank bait!
No fish in the boat, minimal strikes. I want to get back out there with someone who knows the lake and on a day that isn't brilliant sunshine.
