Mike Grahm and I got on the water around 10:30 a.m. The morning into the afternoon was perfect with a slight breeze, sunny and about 70 degrees. The water temperature had cooled down to 62 degrees on the surface.
We first started fishing deep which was non productive. After searching a few area, we found one where the fish were grouped lying in about 15' of water. Many of the fish were in the range from 5'-15'. Mike did pretty good with a chironomid and I used a damsel nymph which also proved to be productive. Later in the late afternoon, we plowed through the weeds on the south end and found a couple of open holes. The fish were very difficult to land without them going down into the weeds. Target areas are very small, so accuracy is important in placement of the fly. There were several good sized fish cruising the open water and we were picking them up with an Adams.
All the fish appeared to be very healthy and strong. Nice to see after the long hot summer that we had.
